Herald St to launch new London space

Article
Founded in 2005 by Nicky Verber and Ash L’ange, Herald St. gallery has announced that it is launching a new London space.

Previously, Herald St held a second, temporary space in Soho at 37 Golden Square. If galleries have to #GrowOrGo, then Herald St is decidedly opting for the first.

The new space, located on Museum Street, will open on September 23 with a solo show by artist Michael Dean. Close to the British Museum, the new exhibition space was previously occupied by antiques dealer Robert Kime. In the words of the founders, the new outpost was created “in contrast to the more white cube feel of the original space in East London”.

“After the experience of Golden Sq we felt it important to have some presence in central London, but primarily we wanted to offer the opportunity for our artists to exhibit in a different type of space” added Nicky Verber and Ash L’ange. Herald St, which regularly attends Frieze London and all three Art Basel fairs, will thus create new opportunities for the 27 artists it represents; exhibitions will “sometimes split into two over the spaces but sometimes an artist will tackle both. Pablo Bronstein will be the first artist to exhibit over both spaces at once next spring”.

On September 30, a show by Jessi Reaves will open at the gallery’s space is Herald St.
