New galleries for Art Basel 2019
From June 13 to 16, the big event for the art market will bring together 290 galleries from 34 different countries. Amongst them will be 19 first-timers, including Galeria Jaqueline Martins (São Paulo), Project Native Informant (London), Crèvecœur (Paris) and Société (Berlin).
Also new this year: cheaper booths for young galleries, with reductions from 10% to 20% depending on the sector. More information available via Artsy.
New prize for Cindy Sherman
Following in the footsteps of Agnès Varda (2016) and Otto Piene (2013), the well-known American photographer has won the Max Beckmann Prize. Awarded every three years, the prize comes with €50,000. Read further via Artnews.
