A building site since 2017, the modern art museum will finally be finished in January 2020.

It should be open to the public in mid-June, after the Paris city council finishes its development of the area surrounding the institution, situated in the Halles district. The Bourse de Commerce has been restored and transformed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando (TAAA — Tadao Ando Architect and Associates), Niney & Marca Architects, architectural firm Pierre-Antoine Gatier and Setec Bâtiment.

Inside the building will be the collection started over 40 years ago by the French businessman, who has owned Christie's auction house since 1988. The 5,000-strong collection brings together some of the biggest names in contemporary art, including Gerhard Richter, Pierre Soulages, Richard Serra, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Marlene Dumas, Tatiana Trouvé, Julie Mehretu, Philippe Parreno and Martial Raysse.
