Diego Marcon awarded the first MAXXI Bulgari Prize
Amongst the prize’s finalists, the artist (b.1985) stood alongside Talia Chetrit and the duo Invernomuto. The Rome museum will add Diego Marcon’s video Ludwig to its collections.
The jury was made up of Hou Hanru, Artistic Director of the MAXXI; Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Director of MAXXI Arte; curators Hans Ulrich and David Elliott, and Artistic Director of Tokyo’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MO) Yuko Hasegawa. They singled Marcon out for “the unique combination between analogical and digital language.” More information available via Artnews.
Indonesia to go all in for interactivity at the Venice Biennale 2019
Under the curation of Asmudjo Jono Irianto and Yacobus Ari Respati, and the artistic direction of Enin Supriyanto, artists Handiwirman Saputra and Syagini Ratna Wulan will take over the Indonesian Pavilion for the country’s second time participating in the event.
Their work, entitled Akal tak Sekali Datang, Runding tak Sekali Tiba (Reason and Negotiation Never Come Just Once), “will comprise a functioning Ferris wheel that visitors can ride, a smoking room, and four hundred lockers”. Read further via the Jakarta Globe.
