The year-long arrangement seeks to promote visits to all three museums through ticket discounts, benefits for members and media communications, with an automatic two-year extension should no problems arise.

For visitors to any one of these museums, a 20% discount will be given on tickets to the others, in order to encourage a flow and exchange of visitors between the centres. Members, annual pass-holders or Friends of the Museum, meanwhile, will benefit from a 30% reduction on the ticket price of the other institutions. A communication plan highlighting the agreement’s benefits, important events and annual milestones will also be rolled out across each of the museum’s media channels.

The three cultural centres hope that the collaboration will create an artistic ecosystem capable of overcoming the challenges faced by fine arts museums today. The three institutions are highly diverse in terms of their origins, collections and historical development, with the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum boasting a century of institutional and citizen cooperation, the Chillida Leku representing the living memory of international Basque artist Eduardo Chillida for nearly two decades, and the Centro Botín bringing comparative youth (having opened in 2017) and an innovative perspective of the art world.
