Despite thousands of dollars of donations from Hollywood actor Michael Sheen (who grew up in the town) to help protect the work, the garage’s owner Ian Lewis has decided to sell, as the financial burden and responsibility of maintaining the piece was too much.
Lewis, a local steel-worker, sold the mural to Essex-based Banksy specialist, John Brandler, reportedly for a six-figure sum. He has assured residents that the piece will remain in-situ in Port Talbot for at least two or three years, but may later be moved. Read further via The Guardian
