Art, wine and collectible cars - better investments than the stock market

The end of 2018 confirmed that luxury goods (art, wine, collectible cars and diamonds) are now the highest-performing investments.

Whilst the average return on investments in art over one year is 10.6% (source: Art Market Research's Art 100 Index), the figure was 10.2% for wine (Liv-ex 1000 index), far in front of the 5% lost on the S&P 500 - a result which was accentuated at the end of the year by the strong decline in exchange rates.

Over 10 years, collectible cars are the highest-performing, with a whopping 289% increase. More information available via The Wall Street Journal.
