Prix Meurice Finalists
A female artist – the third since the prize’s first edition – will follow Morgan Courtois into the hall of fame of the ever-popular Prix Meurice.

Anna Solal, represented by the New Galerie, was selected on October 11. The artist and her gallery will each receive €10,000 for the creation of an ensemble of “kite” pieces in Mexico. The materials will be bought in situ and preferably from value stores or local recycling plants. Sociologists, critics, local recycling associations and ecological NGOs will be associated with the work, which will lead to the publication of a book in collaboration with Terremoto magazine.

The project will involve an exhibition at the Proyectos Monclova gallery, during which a series of workshops will invite the public to “create their own artworks using the same materials as the artist in the general shape of a kite”.

The prize’s jury, led by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, consisted of (amongst others): Colette Barbier, Director of the Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard; Nicolas Bourriaud, Director of the Montpellier Contemporary Art Center, La Panacée; and Jennifer Flay, FIAC Director. New to the jury this year were Nicolas Bos – Van Cleef & Arpels President – and Centre Pompidou-Metz Director Emma Lavigne.

Alongside Anna Solal, the prize’s finalists were Bianca Bondi (Galerie 22m48), Hoël Duret (TORRI), Corentin Grossmann (Galerie Art: Concept), Ferdinand Makouvia Kokou (Galerie Anne de Villepoix), Matthew Lutz-Kinoy (Freedman Fitzpatrick) and Yann Sérandour (GB Agency). Their works can be seen in an exhibition on the FIAC VIP route.
