Is the record price for a Soulages piece set to double?

 

 Even though the two previous records for works by the artist -including a $6.9M piece that sold at Sotheby's Paris in June 2017- focused on the colour of blue, this time a black canvas with touches of red which will be sold by Christie's in November in New York.

 

Made available one month before the artist's 99th birthday, Peinture 186 x 143 cm, 23 décembre 1959 has been estimated to sell for between $10M and $15M, which could exceed Parisian performances by far… More information via Art Market Monitor.

 

 

 

 

Has Vuitton appropriated the work of Haroon Mirza?

 

Displaying at the Lisson Gallery at the Frieze, the British artist (who is known for his installations) presented two imitation pieces of the famous Louis Vuitton bags and wallets. Mirza explained that this act is in response to the luxury giant's "appropriation" of his solar power themed sculptures in their various shop windows.
