Galerie Cecile Fakhoury announces representation of artist Ouattara Watts

Born in the Ivory Coast in 1957, Watts studied at Paris’ Beaux Arts and worked in Jacques Yankel’s studio, before moving to New York in 1988 following the advice of friend Jean-Michel Basquiat. The artist will have a solo show at the Abidjan-based gallery in the spring.

Outtara Watts employs “found objects, photographs and other found materials, evoking the artist’s multicultural identity”. His work has been shown at documenta 11 (Kassel), at the Whitney Biennial in New York and at the Venice Biennale. More information on the artist is available via the gallery's website and via an interview published on HAPPENING.
