Launched as an alternative to traditional art fairs in 2015, the sixth edition of Paris Internationale will take place in an especially unusual environment.
Open to the public from October 22 to 29, the fair’s 2020 edition is taking over a vacant supermarket in Paris’ ninth arrondissement, at 12 Rue de Montyon. Selected by this edition’s curator, art historian Claire Le Restif, the title of the exhibition is SuperSalon, intended to evoke the spirit of nineteenth-century Parisian art salons alongside the humble corner supermarket.
In addition to the free physical exhibition, Paris Internationale is also overhauling its website design to allow for the fair to be documented online, augmented by viewing rooms for galleries to present additional works and a window into their artists’ practices. Paris Internationale online is accessible two days before the start of the fair, from October 20 to 29.
The news brings a welcome bit of whimsy following the sad announcement that FIAC has has to cancel its 2020 Paris fair, postponing its 47th edition to 2021.
