A project born from a collaboration between Vital Arts, artist Shezad Dawood and Modern Forms, #100NHSRooms has seen leading contemporary artists donate their works for 100 new and upgraded NHS staff respite rooms.

The East London hospitals St Bartholomew’s, Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross, Mile End and Newham University Hospital will be home to works by artists such as Rana Begum, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Jeremy Deller, Lakwena Maciver, Haroon Mirza, Annie Morris, Yinka Shonibare, Mark Wallinger and Barbara Walker.

The project offers the creatives involved a chance to express their gratitude to the NHS staff in response to the Covid-19 crisis. Following evidence demonstrating the benefits of art on mental health in clinical settings, it is hoped that the donations will enhance spaces of calm and reflection amidst the intensely-pressured hospital setting.
