“It is time for a gallery from the African continent to play more of a front-line role in shaping international arts discourse," says owner and director Liza Essers.

The 5,730 square-foot space in Mayfair previously only hosted temporary exhibitions during events such as CONDO, but, in Autumn, will become the British base for the gallery already present in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Last May, the gallery was in London for the Photo London fair, where it exhibited the work of David Goldblatt, whose estate they manage.

Amongst its other represented artists are Candice Breitz, Alfredo Jaar, William Kentridge, Shirin Neshat, Lisa Brice, Kudzanai Chiurai and Kapwani Kiwanga. More information available here.
