A Japanese architect for the 19th Serpentine Pavilion

Following in the footsteps of Mexican architect Frida Escobedo, Junya Ishigami will take charge of the next pavilion's construction. Each summer, "a well-known architect who has never before built anything in England" is appointed to lead the project, with the resulting space then hosting cultural and educational events.

The initiative was launched in 2000, with the late Zaha Hadid as the first architect. Read further via ArtForum.
