Jeff Koons reduces his team – again
More than 100 painters were collaborating with the artist at the beginning of 2015, notably on his Gazing Ball series. At the end of 2015, around 30 employees were made redundant. The following year, 15 workers who were trying to form a trade union were fired. With employees being laid off again, this process is not yet a closed book. More information available via Artnews.
Art Stage Singapore cancelled
The number of participants has been on the decline over the last few years, with only 45 galleries planning on attending this edition. The fair’s Director Lorenzo Rudolf sent an email to exhibitors, saying “I’m sorry to have to inform you that as president of Art Stage Singapore, I am forced to immediately stop the preparations for Art Stage Singapore 2019 and to cancel the fair. The given circumstances, about which we shortly will inform you, unfortunately leave no other choice. We ask you to cease all preparations for Art Stage Singapore 2019 from your side as well, or to reverse them.” Art Stage has not yet clarified what those circumstances may be, or issued any public announcement.
