Christie’s Impressionist and Modern Art department will be joined by the previous director of the Barnes Foundation. Derek Gillman was named Senior Vice-President of the department in the US, a position specially created for his arrival.

The department has faced difficulties in recent months and now Derek Gillman will assist Giovanna Bertazzoni and Brooke Lampley in the running of the department. Gillman brings with him a well-established client network and will manage customer relations within the department.

The close departure of Christie’s CEO, Steven Murphy, and the President of Christie’s Americas, Doug Woodham has surprised the industry. Marc Porter and Patricia Barbizet replace the roles respectively, with Barbizet recognized as one of Francois Pinault’s most trusted associates.
