1:54 London looks to Africa

Following the recent announcement of a new African art department at Sotheby’s London, creator of 1:54 Touria El Glaoui has revealed the list of participants for the London edition of the contemporary African art fair.

From October 6 through 9, 40 galleries are to be housed at Somerset house, up from 37 last year with a considerable number of first-time participants. The 17 galleries to join 1:54 are: 50 Golborn; Addis Fine Art; AGorgi Contemporary Art Gallery; Barnard Gallery; Caroline Pagès Gallery; Galeria 111; Circle Art Gallery; Eric Hussenot Gallery; Gallery 1957; Gallery of African Art (GAFRA); Jenkins Johnson Gallery; L’Atelier 21; Officine dell’Immagine; Sulger-Buel Lovell; TAFETA; Tyburn Gallery and  Village Unhu.

A total of 110 African artists from the continent and the diaspora will present their work, whilst Koyo Kouoh, Artistic Director of RAW Material Company Dakar, will direct the FORUM program of talks, lectures and films.
