Marseille’s contemporary art fair ART-O-RAMA, has announced that the Parisian gallery Crèvecoeur is this year’s recipient of the Roger Pailhas Prize.

Established in 2015 and paying tribute to the Marseille-based gallerist Roger Pailhas, the prize is voted by guest art collectors who nominate the fair’s most “adventurous” and innovative curatorial project. The gallery will see its participation fees paid for by the fair. Crèvecoeur Gallery won the prize with their project “Salon d’été”, a group show gathering both French and international artists, including Julien Carreyn, Renaud Jerez, Than Hussein Clark, Adriana Minoliti and Jorge Pedro Núñez.

“Salon d’été”, reflecting on the theme of “home”, presents artworks engaging with the visitor’s perception of the exhibition space, playing with the idea of private and public environments, as well as with the notion of consumption of objects/artworks.

Crèvecoeur follows in the steps of 22,48 m² — another Paris-based gallery — which won the prize in 2015 with a solo show by artist Cécile Beau. This year, ART-O-RAMA celebrated its 10th anniversary edition, which closed on August 28.
