Only 4% of the employees of Major Partner Museums (MPMs) hail from a black and minority ethnic background, and only 11% at National Portfolio Organisations, compared to 16% of the working-age population. The report has also highlighted inequalities within the Arts Council England, and chairman Nicholas Serota has said: “I want the arts to be an inclusive world; a building open to all. Not an exclusive club. Our mission to deliver on diversity is doubly vital.”
