Art-o-Rama rewards Sabot gallery and artist Stefano Calligaro

Article
The third edition of the Roger Pailhas prize, awarded each year on occasion of the Marseilles art fair Art-O-Rama has awarded Romanian gallery Sabot, presenting the project “Unbuffering Room” by artist Stefano Calligaro.

Based in Cluj, (Romania) Stefano Calligaro’s project was created specifically for the fair. “Unbuffering Room” — consisting of a new collection of works by Calligaro, including sculptural elements, digital prints, video, and texts — was created in the aim to “bite, poke and mock a variety of subjects, such as contemporary hysteria, hypocrisy, home-made poetry, market strategies, chit-chat politics, aesthetic values, language and communication.”

Sabot gallery follows in the footsteps of Parisian gallery Crèvecoeur, who had won the award in 2016 with its “Salon d’été”, which brought together works by Julien Carreyn, Renaud Jerez, Than Hussein Clark, Adriana Minoliti and Jorge Pedro Núñez. In 2015, another Parisian gallery, 22,48 m², had been the award’s first recipient for its solo show dedicated to artist Cécile Beau.

As per standard procedure, the gallery will receive a reimbursement of the fair participation costs. (circa €2000)
