Running from 19 September until 13 December 2015, honorary Royal Academician Ai Weiwei is to present the first major international survey of his work at the Royal Academy in London.

The exhibition is to gather works spanning the Chinese artist’s career as well as featuring new works by Ai Weiwei.

“He has claim to be amongst the most famous, if not the most famous artist in the world, but his art is not as widely seen as one might think,” explains Tim Marlow, Director of Artistic Programmes at the Royal Academy.

Despite having confirmed access to a large number of works for the exhibition, Marlow’s only concern is that the Chinese authorities allow certain pieces by the artist to leave the country. Three large-scale installations are planned to feature in the exhibition.
