The event has been concieved by Feroze Gujral, Director and Founder of The Gujral Foundation; Natasha Ginwala is to act as curatorial advisor and curator of public programming for the project.
The subcontinent of India does not normally receive official state representation at the Biennale, this collaboration therefore gives two internationally renouned artists a unique platform to display their work at one of the most important events in the art world.
The project aims to shed new light on the historically complex relations between Pakistan and India, exploring physical borders, colonial modernity and concepts of transnational belonging.
