Labour issues continue in Abu Dhabi

Article
A report released by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in December 2014 has revealed that issues for those working on the development of the Abu Dhabi Saadyiat Island Cultural Quarter continue.

The United Nations’ International Labor Organization has accused Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development and Investment Company of “exploitative practices that may amount to forced labor.”

The report has found that 88 to 89% of the survey respondents claim to have paid recruitment and relocation fees, whilst certain workers have had their passports withheld by employers. Further damning information includes reports of unfit workers lodgings, despite previous complaints about the situation.
