Two Italian collections to be auctioned at Christie's London

On February 4, 2015, Christie’s London is to present the private collections of Principessa Ismene Chigi Della Rovere and of a noble Genoese family.

Comprising over 225 of Old Master paintings, 18th century Italian and French furniture, Art Nouveau glass, as well as Chinese and Japanese works of art. Highlights of the Principessa Ismene Chigi Della Rovere include: pair of Royal Louis-Philippe ormolu four-light candelabra from the Château de Neuilly (estimate: £15,000-25,000); a pair of Japanese gilt-metal mounted and black lacquer Hasamibako (estimate: £5,000-8,000) and a Gallé globular glass vase (estimate: £4,000-6,000).

The collection of a noble Genoese family, assembled during the 20th century with the help of Pietro Accorsi, one of Italy’s most renowned antique dealers, features largely Genoese pieces including a pair of paintings attributed to Gennaro Greco, il Mascacotta, both depicting Italian and coastal landscapes (estimate: £6,000-8,000).
