Picasso's granddaughter flogs $290 million inherited collection

Pablo Picasso’s granddaughter, Marina Picasso, has begun selling off works by the artist from her inherited collection worth around $290 million reports NY Post website Page Six.

Marina is to meet with clients in person in Geneva to make the sale of at least seven works including Portrait de femme (Olga) (1923), depicting Marina’s grandmother - Pablo Picasso’s first wife, for around $60 million; Maternité (1921) for around $54 million and Femme à la Mandoline (Mademoiselle Leonie assise) (1911) for around $60 million.

Page Six reports that Marina’s decision is born of a desire to let go of the past; in 2011 she wrote a memoir detailing a tense relationship with her grandfather.
