Article
You may not know the Cleveland Museum of Art; however it is one of the most technologically sophisticated institutions in the world.

Thanks to the ArtLens application, available on iOS and Android, visitors are able to enrich their museum visit with the aid of their Smartphone. Launched in 2013, the application has been recently employed at the museum and has been equipped with a new Bluetooth network.

With ArtLens, you simply “scan” a work of art with your Smartphone or tablet to access a wealth of information on the artist, the history of the work, different interpretations of the piece on a fun and dynamic platform, including videos, audio and text. Visitors can also be guided through the museum using the high-tech GPS system.

“The Cleveland Museum of Art is a global leader in the development of cutting-edge technologies and on-site interpretive materials,” said William M. Griswold, museum director. “The new technology behind our popular ArtLens app provides greater accuracy that personalizes the visitor experience to a level that visitors to all museums will eventually expect.”The ArtLens technology has been developed with mobile GPS service Navizon, and local design firm Local Project and has already won several awards.
