Four museums in the US receive collection of Japanese art

Collector Sylvan Barnet is to donate his personal collection of Japanese art to four museums across the United States.

The art lover, enthused by Japan, collected a multitude of Japanese works of art including calligraphy, religious art, ceramics and photography.  It is considered the greatest collection of Japanese art outside the country, taking half a century to put together.Sylvan Barnet’s days are now unfortunately counted after his diagnosis with brain cancer. He has now announced his wish to share his collection between The Museum of Fine ArtsThe Harvard Art Museums in Boston, The Metropolitan Museum in New York City and The Freer Gallery in Washington.
