Monumental Buddha by Zhang Huan exhibited in Sydney

Article
Artist Zhang Huan will exhibit his largest ever work entitled Sydney Buddha during Sydney Festival at Carrigeworks.

Seated serenely facing one another and measuring 5-meters high, one is cast with incense ash – 20 tons harvested from Chinese monasteries – and the other in aluminum. The Buddhas symbolize the brevity of existence, as the Buddha in ash slowly disintegrates when exposed to the outside world.
