Paddle8 to sell coveted album by hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan

Wu-Tang Clan will sell online its newest album's only copy.

Last year, hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan announced their project to record The Wu – Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, an album produced as a single unique copy. Without any news since, whispers of the mysterious album are coming to light. In an interview with Forbes magazine, the RZA rapper and founding member of the band announced that the copy would be offered at sale by the online auction house Paddle8.

According to Paddle8, the sale will take place privately and will not be offered at auction. Serious offers by potential buyers will be reviewed by the auction house and presented to the music group. More information will be revealed regarding the sale before the end of the month. Sarah Goulet, Communications Director for Paddle8, highlighted the importance of positioning the unique item as a work of art. “It’s truly treating this album, which very well may be the last album that the Wu-Tang Clan makes together, as a one-of-a kind, special property that is worth the price” explained Goulet.

This is a great opportunity for Paddle8, considered the digital younger brother of the larger auction houses. Created in 2011 by Alexander Gilkes, a Harvard graduate who has previous ties with LVMH and Aditya Julka. Paddle8 counts Damien Hirst and the Mellon family among its investors.
