Bodrum, Turkey, art hot spot? In general Bodrum conjures up images of sun, sea and five-star hotels, however it is one such hotel, Casa dell’Arte, that houses one of the region’s most impressive collections.

The culmination of its Art DepARTment, Gamze Büyükkuşoğlu, MFA Goldsmith College and the unique space it occupies, allows the Casa dell’Arte to offer short artists’ residencies for emerging artists as well as exhibitions which showcase the hotel’s collection as well as temporary shows throughout every part of the hotel.

On July 28 the exhibition “Shadows” by Hüsamettin Koçan opened its doors, for the Turkish artist, who is also a university professor and creator of the Baksi contemporary art museum — voted Museum of the Year in 2014 by the European Council, offering additionally artist residencies — shadows slide in and out of existence, taking the form of rigid sculptures, like bullet holes, evanescent, spectral forms passing through time.
