A presentation based on strange worlds.

HAPPENINGFirst things first, Valérie Belin, the photographer long-supported by Nathalie Obadia and who recently presented her “Unquiet Images” at the Centre Pompidou. Mundane in appearance, the images are in reality much more compelling than what we imagine. Because these unquiet images remind us of our own questions and doubts. Aren’t these portraits of young women (Métisses series) rather wax models?

Another clinical glance, that of Thomas Lerooy, which blurs the boundaries between old and new, dream and nightmare. Destroy Everything You Touch seems to be a metaphor for reality.

Laure Prouvost conveys the viewer into his world that blends the innocent and that which has been perverted by increasingly modern technologies. As for the Australian Andrew Brook, he reflects on our relationship to so-called civilized society. Like a Claude Levi-Strauss and his concept of nature and culture...

Finally Sarkis, a Turkish sculptor of Armenian origin, represented by Turkey at the 56th Venice Biennale, returns with recent works and most notably with his stained glass work. Kırmızı Kadın (Young woman in red), contemplates the events that have marred Turkey in recent months. We can make out a woman in a red dress, turning her head; in the background, soldiers armed with shields.
