H A P P E N I N G : Where do you live?

Armand Jalut: Paris

H: What music do you listen to when you’re working?

AJ: Often Anglo-Saxon music of the last 4 or 5 decades, with a large preference for indie music.

H: Is there a philosopher, or writer that you admire?

AJ: Impossible to name only one. I am drawn to Jacques Rancière, Bataille, Barthes, Foucault, Marshall McLuhan, Benjamin Buchloh, Beatriz Preciado, Huysmans, Mervyn Peake, Céline, Gombrowicz, J.G. Ballard, Thomas Bernhard, Elfriede Jelinek…

H: An opera?

AJ: The film adaptation of Don Giovanni by Losey I viewed at the cinema in my childhood touched me deeply.

H: A city you really like/ that inspires you?

AJ: Los Angeles and Naples, for different reasons. They are violent, romantic and decadent.

H: Is there a project that you wish to do, but haven’t yet had a chance to realise?

AJ: To visit Neverland with John Waters.
