In 16 days, 500,000 visitors are expected to visit Christo's Floating Piers, built by the artist on Lake Iseo, Italy.

Despite the influx of tourists, local taxpayers have criticized the initiative. Despite the €15 million project being funded by the artist through the sale of drawings and preliminary sketches, the italian  consumer group Codacons announced that it would be filing a complaint concerning the cost of cleaning up the area after the passage of thousands of visitors and ensuring their safety. Following a first failed attempt in San Francisco, George Lucas has also abandoned plans to open a museum in Chicago. His decision was provoked by action from local residents who were against the city according public grounds to a private museum. The creator of Star Wars had planned to house part of his art collection within the museum, including works by Norman Rockwell. More via The Art Newspaper.
