The Rosamund Felsen Gallery which opened its doors in 1978 in Los Angeles, has announced its imminent closure.

From July 9 a final group show featuring artists Mindy Alper, Judith Barry, Les Biller, Jacci Den Hartog, Tim Ebner, Steven Hull, Nancy Jackson, Kim MacConnel, John Mils, M.A. Peers, Maureen Selwood, and C.K. Wilde will open. The gallery intends to continue its activity online. More details on Art News.

The Judd Foundation has unveiled new research linked to a new Catalogue Raisonné currently under development on the artist. The Foundation has also made an appeal to owners of Judd works to provide information via the platform  juddfoundation.org/catalogue.


Seven records were set at Christie’s London last night for artists Henry Moore, Frederic Leighton, David Roberts, Frank Auerbach, Lynn Chadwick, Bridget Riley and Thomas Daniell. The auction realized a total of £99.5 million with 27 of the 31 lots finding buyers — a very successful evening for the auction house. The sale was dominated by Henry Moore’s 1951 Reclining Figure which realized £24.7 million including buyer’s premium, whilst Lucien Freud’s Ib and her Husband (1992) with an £18 million pre-sale estimate did not find a buyer. Bridget Riley’s Untitled (Diagonal Curve) (1966) however realized £4.3 million, doubling the artist’s personal record. The Art Newspaper reports.

Candy Coleman, director of Gagosian Los Angeles has left the gallery after 20 years, she is to take on a new role at Sotheby’s as specialist within the contemporary department. Coleman had previously worked with the auction house between 1985 and 1995. More info via artnet news.

Chantal Pontbriand, named as director of MOCA, the new museum of contemporary art in Toronto, just one year ago, has already stepped down. The reason for her departure has not yet been stated. More details via  The Globe & Mail.
