After 25 years at Marian Goodman, photographer Jeff Wall has left the gallery and is now represented by Gagosian.

Mark Francis, director of the gallery, has commented on the move by noting that Wall wishes to “be seen more widely as an American artist”, something that Gagosian gallery “can do well”. More on The New York Times.

The tenth edition of Sinopale, the Turkish Biennial, has been postponed due to the ongoing political crisis in the country, including an attempted coup last July 15, carried out by a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces. Whilst certain events, organized with regional partners, will go ahead as planned, the main exhibitions, due to take place at multiple locations in Sinop and Gerzi, will be rescheduled for next year. Artprice, the online platform providing extensive data on the art market, including auction results, hammer prices, images and market trends, is suing artnet, the online art marketplace registered in Germany, on counts of unfair competition. According to Artprice, artnet has engaged in acts of trademark infringement against artprice on Google.fr, Google.de and Google.com, appropriating the former’s brands and company name and has attempted to take advantage of artprice’s reputation to become the leading online resource in the art market. Art Market Insight has more information.

Bar Paris, a public installation by Italian artist Giancarlo Neri, due to be featured in the Glória neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro on occasion of the Olympic Games, has been cancelled by the country’s new culture minister Marcelo Calero following increasing budget cuts as the country’s economic crisis continues to worsen. Neri, who has been working on large-scale site-specific installations since 1982, has commented on the event, thanking the Brazilian culture minister for “cancelling all the cultural projects in 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, including ours”.
