Director of collections Taco Dibbits has been promoted to director of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Dibbits, who has worked with the museum for the past 12 years, will replace current director Wim Pijbes in July.

The latter will move to the Museum Voorlinden, a new contemporary art institution in the Hague. The New York Times has more.

Non-profit organization Public Art Fund has announced that MEMORIAL — a seventeen-foot granite sculpture by British artist David Shrigley — will be the next public artwork to be displayed at the Doris C. Freedman Plaza in Central Park, where it will be on view from September 8 through February 26, 2017. More on Art Forum.

Seven people have been arrested in Madrid in relation to the theft of five Francis Bacon paintings — worth a combined $25 million — earlier this year, artnet news reports.
