The former romantic partner of Marina Abramovićh, Ulay, has claimed victory against her in an almost year-long lawsuit over joint works.

Yesterday a Dutch court ordered Abramovićh to pay Ulay a sum of more than €250,000 arising from the sales of joint works and a commercial re-enactment for Adidas of a joint piece. Ulay launched the lawsuit last year, claiming that Abramović had breached a contract they signed in 1999 pertaining to works they had created together. The Guardian has more.

The New Art Dealers’ Alliance has announced the list of exhibitors for the 14th of edition of the NADA Miami Beach Fair, which this year returns to its traditional home at the Deauville Beach Resort on Collins Avenue. 43 of this year’s exhibitors are newcomers, almost half of the 110 who will be present in total, and a greater number than in the previous two years. Some of the notable first-time exhibitors include: Five Car Garage, Los Angeles; Good Weather, North Little Rock; Parrasch Heijnen, Los Angeles; Patron, Chicago; and SVIT, Prague. Sotheby’s most recent success at auction has proven that the art market is not in crisis. Their auction of aboriginal art in London this September 21 achieved £1.6 million, an increase of 55% compared with last year’s figures. A number of record sales were made, including that of Michael Nelson Jagamara’s Five Stores, considered to epitomise modern aboriginal art, which sold for £401,000, almost double the pre-sale high estimate. The 36th class of MacArthur Fellows has been announced. 23 successful candidates have been selected across a broad range of professions: writers, artists, scientists and innovators in other fields. The new MacArthur Fellows, appointed by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in Chicago, were chosen according to three strict criteria which assess the potential of candidates to continue to produce exceptional work in the future. Each of the lucky Fellows will benefit from a no-strings-attached stipend of $625,000, paid in quarterly installments over five years. Among the chosen few are the artists Vincent Fecteau, Mary Reid Kelley, and Joyce J. Scott, as well as the art historian and curator Kellie Jones. Full list of Fellows via the MacArthur Foundation.
