Sadly, the art world has lost one of the Californian contemporary arts scene's leading artists. In other news, Frieze New York has announced its 2018 participants.

Artist Ed Moses has passed away

Born in Long Beach, California, in 1926, Moses was one of the most reputed painters of the Los Angeles scene. Member of the “Cool School”, he was one of California’s most influential artists, next to Ed Ruscha, Billy Al Bengston and Robert Irwin.

He was represented by Blain|Southern gallery, and his works appear in the collections of leading US institutions including the Hammer Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the MOCA Grand Avenue (all Los Angeles, CA), plus the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), San Francisco, CA

Frieze New York announces 2018 participants

The New York iteration of the fair, taking place from May 2 through 6, will bring together 190 galleries from 30 countries. The fair will be open exclusively to VIP card-holders on its first two days, and will open to the public from May 4.

As for the exhibitors, Frieze will welcome newcomers Essex Street and JTT (New York), as well as Château Shatto (Los Angeles) and Regards (Chicago).

Rotterdam’s Haute Photographie announces 2018 participants

The second edition of Rotterdam’s photography art fair, Haute Photographie, taking place during the Art Rotterdam week, from February 8 through 11, has announced the list of participating artists and galleries.

Participating galleries are Bildhalle (Zurich), Cokkie Snoei (Rotterdam), Dorothée Nilsson Gallery (Berlin), Esther Woerdehoff (Paris), Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen (Amsterdam), Howard Greenberg Gallery (New York), Ibasho Gallery (Antwerp), Kahmann Gallery (Amsterdam), mc2gallery (Milan), NOOR (Amsterdam), The Ravestijn Gallery (Amsterdam) and Torch Gallery (Amsterdam). The fair, which will be structured as a museum-like group exhibition, without single booths, will feature works by artists including Pieter Hugo (1976, SA) Bastiaan Woudt, (1987, NL) Antoine D’Agata, (1961, FR) Nobuyoshi Araki (1940, JP) Werner Bischof, (1916 - 1954, CH) René Burri (1933 - 2014 CH) and Daido Moriyama.  (1938, JP) The full list of participating artist is available via the fair’s website.
