A new record for Fernand Léger?

Christie’s has announced that Fernand Léger’s painting Contraste de formes (1913) — which has never been featured at auction — will be offered in New York this November. The work is estimated at $65 million — well above the artist’s previous auction record of $39.2 million, set at Sotheby’s in New York for the painting La femme en Bleu. (1912-13) Profits from the sale will go to the Anna Maria & Stephen Kellen Foundation. Read more on Artnews.
