Pussy Riot launches crowdfunding to produce reproduction of Russian prison conditions

Russian feminist punk rock group and activists Pussy Riot have announced plans to raise $78,000 in a bid to “recreate the Russian prison experience in a London art gallery”, in collaboration with Les Enfants Terribles Theatre Company.

The group gained global notoriety in 2012 after staging an anti-Putin protest in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior, following which three of the members were arrested and sentenced to serve in a Russian prison camp. The production will involve recreating “everything from solitary confinement cells to a labor gulag and priests who shout about banning abortions and many more absurd, but real-life things that exist in Russia”.
