The National Gallery of Canada receives a large donation
Bob Rennie is bequeathing 197 artworks including paintings, sculptures, and other media to the National Gallery of Canada. The collection of work includes pieces by Rodney Graham, Doris Salcedo, Brian Jungen, Damian Moppett, Ian Wallace and Geoffrey Farmer — whose work is currently on display at the Venice Biennale. The donation is worth an estimated $12 million. Rob Rennie is a property developer and founder of the Rennie Foundation, he was formerly on the Tate Modern’s North America Acquisitions Committee and is a member of the Tate International Council and on the Board of Trustees for the Art Institute of Chicago.
A promotion at Christie’s
Loic Gouzer has been named co-chairman of postwar and contemporary art at Christie’s Americas alongside Alexander Rotter who joined the auction house. The pair succeed Brett Gorvy who has left to work with Dominique Lévy. Gouzer, who has been at Christie’s since 2011 previously worked under Rotter at Sotheby’s. More via The Art Newspaper
Tracey Emin breaks with gallery Lehmann Maupin...
After 20 years of collaboration, Tracey Emin announced via press release that she is to leave her gallery Lehmann Maupin. Various reasons have been cited by both parties. The artist has also declared that she has no intention to work with another gallery in the United States at present.

Catherine Opie joins Thomas Dane gallery
The London based Thomas Dane gallery is to begin working with the American photographer Catherine Opie (born 1961). Opie’s work focuses on the representation of the LGBTQ community.
