During a conference at the Kunsthaus de Zurich on Tuesday, the collector and president of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder, urged Switzerland stop housing works of art linked to Nazi crimes. The American millionaire accused Switzerland of turning a blind eye to the sale and exhibition of works that were either looted or involved in forced sales under the Third Reich.

The Austrian town of Linz may have to pay over €8 million to the family of artist and collector Olga Jäger. In 1951 Jäger had lent a Klimt drawing and three works by Egon Schieler to the Neue Galerie der Stadt Linz (which later became the Lentos Kunstmuseum) however in 2006 when Jäger’s hiers came to collect the works, they could not be found. The appeal filed by the Austrian city has been rejected. More on artnet News.
