Another one bites the dust. Miety Heiden, Vice President and Head of Contemporary Private Sales for North America at Sotheby’s is leaving the auction house. Heiden has been with Sotheby’s since 1997.

Artnet News broke the story but the reason for her departure has not been given. However, we have seen slew of staff members have left the company since Sotheby’s acquisition of Art Agency Partners in January.


Sculptor Phyllida Barlow, age 71, has been selected to represent Britain at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. The announcement comes off the back of a recent exhibition at the Artist Rooms at Tate Modern. Artspace have taken on Emmanuele Vinciguerra as the new CEO, she will replace Catherine Levene. Vinciguerra who began her career in the fashion industry, has been with Artspace for two years as COO. Via the Baer Faxt.


Last night Sotheby’s mid-season contemporary curated sale in New York realized $20 million with 75% of lots sold. The top lot, Josef Albers’ Study for Homage to the Square: Soft Signal (1966), sold for $634,000 from a pre-sale estimate of $300,000- $400,000. Art Market Monitor has the top ten lots here.

Artadia has announced its five finalists for the 2016 Los Angeles edition of its awards: Rafa Esparza, Dan Finsel, Mariah Garnett, Dylan Mira, and Nate Page. The shortlist was whittled down from 648 applicants. The two eventual winners will receive $10,000 each. More on Art News here.
