Art Stage Singapore heads to Jakarta. From August 5 through 7, Lorenzo Rudolf, founder of the fair, will present 50 galleries for the first edition of Art Stage Jakarta. Whilst the Singapore edition fair is an international affair, the indonesian version will focus principally on local creation. Leo Silitonga, until present, director of Bazaar Art Jakarta, will head up the event.

Following the armed robbery of a church in Verona in November last year, 13 people have been arrested by the Italian Police for the theft of 17 works included pieces by Tintoret, Pisanello, Rubens and Mantegna. Phillips auction house have announced that Jonathan Crockett is to take over as head of 20th Century and Contemporary art department at their Asia base. He will also take on the role of Vice President Asia. Prior to his appointment Crockett was director Asia at Sotheby’s, he was also a senior specialist in contemporary art for the auction house. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation has announced the first recipient of the Pollock Prize for Creativity. The $50,000 award, which will henceforth be awarded annually, was presented to South African photographer Gideon Mendel. More information on Art Forum.


Sotheby’s have announced the sale of a double self portrait by Francis Bacon which is to hit the hammer during its May New York sales. The work holds a pre-sale estimate of $22 to 30 million. In 2016 the artist’s is to be the subject of several important exhibitions from the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, to the Tate Liverpool as well as at the Getty Museum in LA.
