Artist Sophie Jung has been named as the first recipient of the Luxembourg Encouragement for Artists Prize. Her work is currently on display at the Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonneville alongside the three other finalists. Jung receives a €12,500 cash prize.

A new artist-run fair called Portal is to launch during New York Frieze week in May at the Federal Hall National Monument. With around 40 participants, there will be no galleries involved, when sales take place 70% will go to the artist and 30% will go to organizers 4heads. Read more on the New York Times.


How much Twombly is too much Twombly? On May 11, Cy Twombly’s Untitled 1968 (New York) estimated $40 million, and a 2004 Bacchus estimated at $20 million, are to hit the auction block at Sotheby’s New York. More via Art Market Monitor. 


The Washington National Gallery of Art has received a $30 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support digital programs, education, conservation and the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts. More details on the grant via ArtForum.
