New York’s International Center of Photography (ICP) will reopen its doors on June 23 at its new address at 250 Bowery.

The news has been revealed on the occasion of the ICP’s 23d Annual Infinity Awards, where Mark Lubell — the museum’s executive director — announced that the inaugural exhibition will be curated by Charlotte Cotton, who has previously worked at the V&A Museum in London and the Wallis Annenberg Department of Photography at LACMA. Philanthropist Yana Peel — chief executive officer of  Outset Contemporary Art Fund and Intelligence Squared — has been appointed CEO of London’s Serpentine Gallery, filling in the role of Julia Peyton-Jones, who has stepped down from her role as co-director after 25 years earlier this month. Peel will work alongside Hans Ulrich Obrist, the gallery’s artistic director, The Art Forum reports.


The Ruya Foundation — the Baghdad-based non-profit contemporary art organization — has launched the first online archive for Iraqi artists. The database has been created in order to fill in the existing gap “between contemporary artists in Iraq and those working outside”. More information on The Art Newspaper.


Major protests have broken out in Tehran over proposals to privatise the capital’s Museum of Contemporary Art. The museum’s collection could be transferred to the Roudaki Foundation, a private institution. Last Thursday, the main building of Cairo’s Townhouse Gallery collapsed, demolishing the library and part of the offices. This week, the city’s riot police evicted the building’s residents and ordered workers to start demolishing the interiors, despite the deputy governor’s order to postpone the start of demolition works.
