May 23 | Marciano Art Foundation to open LA museum

The Marciano Art Foundation has announced plans to open a new contemporary art museum in Los Angeles this November. The highly anticipated new museum will occupy a 100,000 square foot space on Wilshire Boulevard, currently under renovation.

Curator Philipp Kaiser will be responsible for organizing the museum’s inaugural show, featuring works from the Marciano collection. Art News has more information.

 


 

 

Massachusetts College of Art and Design has received a $1 million bequest by former student and PACE Gallery founder Arne Glimcher. The donation will contribute to finance the institution’s Unbound: Campaign for the Bakalar & Paine Galleries, aimed at renovating the college’s 8,000 square foot gallery space. More on Art Daily.
 

A video-installation by artists Sampson Wong and Jason Lam — originally displayed on the façade of Hong Kong’s International Commerce Center — was removed following the reveal of the work’s controversial political message. Ellen Pau, chairwoman of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, which commissioned the artwork, has said the artists have shown “disrespect” by changing the work without consulting the art and media group first.
