The Estate of Francis Bacon has announced the publication of Francis Bacon: Catalogue Raisonné, a new, comprehensive catalogue surveying the entire oeuvre of the British artist.

The first copies of the five-volume work, edited by Martin Harrison, were presented yesterday in Soho, London during the one-day exhibition “Francis Bacon: Six Studies in Soho”. Copies of the catalogue, which will be published on June 30 and which took ten years to complete, will be on sale for £1.000. Read more on The Art Newspaper.

Yuri Pattison is the recipient of this year’s Frieze Art Award, the prize awarded for site-specific work by artists between the age of 25 and 40 by Frieze Projects — the fair’s non-profit organization. Pattison’s work — an ensemble of large monitors installed throughout the fair, collecting and presenting information — explores the theme of “trending data”. More on the Art Forum.

Following the reception of a $13 million bequest by the Heritage Lottery Fund earlier this week, The Courtauld Institute has announced plans for a $73 million renovation, involving both the improvement of the institute’s facilities and the creation of new research and teaching projects. Despite the overall art market slowdown, auction house Christie’s is to open a new space in Beijing in the autumn. While the location and opening date remain unknown, Christie’s president Jussi Pylkkanen has announced that the new space will open with an inaugural show of highlights from Christie’s November New York sales. Artist James Richard has been chosen to represent Wales at the 57th Venice Biennale, running May 13 through November 26. Richard’s work, curated by Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Center — will focus on “the possibility of the personal in the information age”. Bahrain Art Across Borders — an exhibition aimed at bringing international exposure to contemporary artists from Bahrain — has launched yesterday at London's Victoria & Albert museum.
