Recent diplomatic talks between Cuba and the US have not been enough to prevent harmonious cultural exchange between the two countries.

An exhibition that was to present works from the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana at the Bronx Museum of the Arts in New York has since been postponed, due to fears on the behalf the Cuban government of a possible seizure by the American authorities of the works of art. Following the 1959 seizure of American properties on Cuban soil by Fidel Castro, the US are still pushing for a $7 billion settlement. Last year, 90 pieces from the Bronx Museum were on show at the museum in Havana. The Art Newspaper has more.

German auction house Kunsthaus Lempertz has appointed Henri Moretus Plantin de Bouchot as the new director of its Brussels outpost. With over a decade worth of experience in auctions, Moretus Plantin de Bouchot — an expert in comics — has expressed his desire to implement new exhibitions, concerts and conferences at the recently renovated heritage building on Rue du Grand Cerf. The University of Iowa has revealed plans to open a new museum predicted to cost up to $60 million. The institution, whose 14,500 pieces are estimated at $500 million, holds a $60 million painting by Jackson Pollock, which is currently on loan in Europe and will not return until a new facility is in place.
